SUMMARY: The Department of Commerce (Department) requests public comments on a draft “Consultation and Coordination Policy of the U.S. Department of Commerce.” This proposed policy establishes the manner in which the Department works with federally-recognized Indian tribes when developing Department policies that have tribal implications. The policy reaffirms the unique government-to-government relationship that exists between Indian tribes and the Department of Commerce to support Tribes in the development of strong and stable economies able to participate in today's national and global marketplace.
