SUMMARY: This Guideline sets forth the administrative, programmatic, and financial requirements attendant to Fiscal Year 2008 State Justice Institute grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Pursuant to the State Justice Institute Act of 1984, 42 U.S.C. 10701 , et seq., as amended, the Institute is authorized to award grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts to State and local courts, nonprofit organizations, and others for the purpose of improving the quality of justice in the State courts of the United States. Final appropriations legislation for fiscal year (FY) 2008 is still pending. The House-passed version (H.R. 3093) includes $4,640,000 for the Institute in FY 2008; the Senate passed version (S. 1745) of the bill includes $3,500,000. Regardless of the final amount provided to the Institute for FY 2008, the Institute's Board of Directors intends to solicit grant applications across the range of grant programs available.
