SUMMARY: This Guideline sets forth the administrative, programmatic, and financial requirements attendant to Fiscal Year 2007 State Justice Institute grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Pursuant to the State Justice Institute Act of 1984, 42 U.S.C. 10701 , et seq. , as amended, the Institute is authorized to award grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts to State and local courts, nonprofit organizations, and others for the purpose of improving the quality of justice in the State courts of the United States. Pending appropriations legislation passed by the House (H.R. 5672) would appropriate $2,000,000 for SJI in fiscal year (FY) 2007; the Senate-passed version of the bill proposes to appropriate $4,500,000. Regardless of the final amount provided to SJI for FY 2007, the Institute's Board of Directors intends to solicit grant applications across the range of grant programs available.
