Department of Justice Antitrust Division [Civil Action No: 01-1419 (Antitrust)] Notice is hereby given pursuant to the Antitrust Procedures and Penalties Act, 15 U.S.C. 16(b)-(h) , that a proposed Final Judgment, Hold Separate Stipulation and Order and Competitive Impact Statement have been filed with the United States District Court for the District of Columbia in United States of America v. The Thomson Corporation, Harcourt General, Inc., and Reed Elsevier Inc., No. 1:01CV01419. On June 27, 2001, the United States filed a Complaint alleging that The Thomson Corporation's proposed acquisition of the college textbook publishing and computer-based testing businesses of Harcourt General, Inc. from Reed Elsevier Inc. would violate section 7 of the Clayton Act, 15 U.S.C. 18 . The proposed Final Judgment, filed at the same time as the Complaint, requires the defendants to divest textbooks and related ancillary educational materials for thirty-eight college courses and Harcourt's national computer-basing testing business.
