SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Commission instituted this investigation on October 13, 2000, based on a complaint filed by Milacron Inc. (“Milacron”) alleging that respondents UBE Industries, Ltd. and UBE Machinery Inc. (collectively “UBE”) violated section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, as amended, 19 U.S.C. 1337 , by importing, selling for importation, or selling within the United States after importation certain plastic molding machines with control systems having programmable operator interfaces incorporating general purpose computers, and components thereof, that infringe certain claims of Milacron's U.S. Letters Patent 5,062,052, as amended by Reexamination Certificate B1 5,062,052. On November 6, 2000, Milacron and UBE entered into a settlement agreement, which included an agreement to file a joint motion to terminate the investigation.
