Keeler NorthStar Healthcare 3300 Cork Airport Business Park Kinsale Road, Cork T12 XN72 Ireland RE: The tariff classification of Levonorgestrel (New Day) Tablets in dosage form, from Germany Dear Ms. Keeler: In your letter dated June 5, 2019, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Levonorgestrel is a progestin hormone, indicated for the treatment of menopausal and postmenopausal disorders, and alone or in combination with other hormones as an oral contraceptive. You submitted a document describing Levonorgestrel as “New Day,” which is indicated for use as an emergency oral contraceptive and imported in dosages of 1.5 mg tablets. The applicable subheading for Levonorgestrel (New Day) Tablets in dosage form will be 3006.60.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Pharmaceutical products specified in note 4 to this chapter: Chemical contraceptive preparations based on hormones, on other products of heading 2937 or on spermicides.” The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
