Glipizide ER Tablets, imported in dosages of 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg, is a medicinal preparation containing Glipizide, a blood-glucose lowering drug, as the active ingredient. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the control of hyperglycemia and its associated symptomatology in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM; type II), formerly known as maturity-onset diabetes. The applicable subheading for the Glipizide ER Tablets in dosage form will be 3004.90.9290, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
