Keeler NorthStar Healthcare 3300 Cork Airport Business Park Kinsale Road Cork, T12 XN72, Ireland RE: The tariff classification of Clobetasol Propionate ointment 0.05% in dosage form, from Italy Dear Ms. Keeler: In your letter dated January 30, 2018, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Clobetasol Propionate ointment 0.05% is a medicinal preparation containing Clobetasol Propionate, a synthetic corticosteroid, as the active ingredient. It is indicated for the short-term topical treatment of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses of the scalp. Clobetasol Propionate ointment will be imported in 15 mg, 30 mg, 45 mg and 60 mg packed for retail sale. The applicable subheading for the Clobetasol Propionate ointment 0.05% in dosage form will be 3004.32.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other, containing hormones or other products of heading 2937: Containing corticosteroid hormones, their derivatives or structural analogues.” The rate of duty will be free.
