Westside Business Park Old Kilmeaden Road, Waterford Ireland RE: The tariff classification of Melphalan tablets in dosage form, from Ireland Dear Ms. Walsh: In your letter dated March 20, 2017, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject product, Melphalan tablets in 2 mg, is a chemotherapy drug belonging to the class of nitrogen mustard alkylating agents. It is indicated for the palliative treatment of multiple myeloma and for the palliation of non-resectable epithelial carcinoma of the ovary. The applicable subheading for Melphalan tablets in dosage form will be 3004.90.9215, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for: “Medicaments ... consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Antineoplastic and immunosuppressive medicaments.” The rate of duty will be free.
