Burr Blvd., Suite 10 Teaneck, NJ 07666 RE: The tariff classification of “Special Rice SSS” from Japan Dear Ms. Bowman: In your letter received April 14, 2016, you requested a tariff classification ruling on “Special Rice SSS.” You have indicated that the product at issue is 100% percent calcium carbonate, also known as limestone, (CAS # 1317-65-3) and intended to be used as a coloring component in the manufacture of automotive coatings and paints. Your submission describes “Special Rice SSS” as a white odorless powder. The applicable subheading for “Special Rice SSS” will be 2836.50.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Carbonates; peroxocarbonates (percarbonates); commercial ammonium carbonate containing ammonium carbamate: Calcium carbonate. The general rate of duty will be free. This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which are administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
