Pickard Augusta Sportswear 425 Park West Drive Grovetown, CA 30813 RE: The tariff classification of a hat from China Dear Ms. Picard: In your letter dated September 29, 2015, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample will be returned to you, as requested. The submitted sample, Style K-061 is a bucket-style hat composed of 100% polyester knit mesh fabric. The hat has a flat crown, a 3 inch stitched brim, two sewn eyelets on two side panels, an inside sweat band, and an adjustable braided draw cord to secure the hat to the head. The applicable subheading for Style K-061 will be 6505.00.5090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Hats and other headgear, knitted or crocheted, or made up from lace, felt or other textile fabric, in the piece (but not in strips), whether or not lined, trimmed: hair-nets of any material, whether lined or trimmed: Other: Other: of man-made fibers: Knitted or crocheted or made up from knitted or crocheted fabric: Wholly or in part of braid: Other: Other”. The rate of duty will be 6.8% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
