N262709 April 14, 2015 CLA-2-69:OT:RR:NC:N4:422 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 6912.00.4400 Mr. Jason Combs C J International, Inc. 4646 W Jefferson Blvd Suite 260 Fort Wayne, IN 46804-6844 RE: The tariff classification of a stoneware ceramic mug from China Dear Mr. Combs: In your letter dated March 11, 2015, on behalf of the Casad Company, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample is identified as a mug. The item is a drinking vessel that is comprised of stoneware ceramic material, is cylindrical in shape and measures approximately 3” in diameter across the open mouth, as well as across the base. The same diameter measurement is maintained at every point from the top to the bottom. The mug stands at a height of approximately 3¾” and has a C-shaped handle on one side. It has a capacity of 12 oz. and is of cobalt blue color with a glazed finish but will be imported in a variety of colors. After importation, a printing process will be used on the outer surface of the mug and it will be sold as a promotional item. The applicable subheading for the ceramic mug will be 6912.00.4400, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for ceramic tableware…other than of porcelain or china: tableware and kitchenware: other: other: other: mugs and other steins. The rate of duty will be 10 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
