West Maple Walled Lake, MI 48390 RE: The tariff classification of end caps from China Dear Mr. Deschamps: In your letter dated March 4, 2015 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The end caps, i.e., left end caps/part number 2096L and right end caps/part number 2096R, are components of a paint mixing machine. The end caps are made of cold rolled steel and painted with a black powder coat. The weight of each end cap is approximately 1.16 pounds. They will be attached by pop rivets to the machine’s steel shelves (not included) to add support when the shelves are stacked using steel tubes. The applicable subheading for the End Caps, i.e., left end caps/part number 2096L and the right end caps/part number 2096R, will be 8479.90.9496, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Machines and mechanical appliances having individual functions, not specified or included elsewhere in this chapter; parts thereof: Parts: Other: Other: Other”. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
