N237088 January 29, 2013 CLA-2-85:OT:RR:NC:N1:112 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 8544.42.9000 Jini Koh Crowell and Moring LLP 1001 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington, DC 20004 RE: The tariff classification of an electrical wiring harness from Japan Dear Ms. Koh: In your letter dated January 7, 2013, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Aisin Holdings of America, Inc. The item concerned is referred to as an outdoor wiring harness, part # 623811-26180. There are thirty-two insulated electrical cables incorporated within this harness assembly. The cables incorporate various types of electrical connectors. This electrical wiring harness is used within a gas heat pump air-conditioning unit. It’s used to facilitate the transfer of power from the control board to the various components within the unit, i.e. fans, heaters, ignition coils, etc. The applicable subheading for the outdoor wiring harness, part # 623811-26180 will be 8544.42.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Insulated wire, cable…: Other electric conductors, for a voltage not exceeding 1,000 V: Fitted with connectors: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be 2.6%.
