N234668 November 21, 2012 CLA-2-29:OT:RR:E:NC:N2:238 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 2932.99.6100 Mr. Mark Huntebrinker Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc. 13600 Shoreline Drive Earth City, MO 63045 RE: The tariff classification of Escitalopram (CAS-128196-01-0) imported in bulk form, from Ireland Dear Mr. Huntebrinker: In your letter dated October 22, 2012, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject product, Escitalopram, is the pure S-enantiomer (single isomer) of the racemic bicyclic phthalane derivative citalopram. Escitalopram is in a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is indicated for the acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and in adolescents 12 to 17 years of age. The applicable subheading for the Escitalopram imported in bulk form will be 2932.99.6100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with oxygen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Other: Aromatic: Other: Products described in additional U.S. note 3 to section VI.” Pursuant to GN 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
