The subject product, Escitalopram, is the pure S-enantiomer (single isomer) of the racemic bicyclic phthalane derivative citalopram. Escitalopram is in a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is indicated for the acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and in adolescents 12 to 17 years of age. The applicable subheading for the Escitalopram imported in bulk form will be 2932.99.6100, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with oxygen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Other: Aromatic: Other: Products described in additional U.S. note 3 to section VI.” Pursuant to GN 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
