Gage Boulevard Kennewick, Washington 99336 RE: The tariff classification of Sweet Potato Puff Dear Mr. Leake: In your letter dated September 5, 2012, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject merchandise is described as Sweet Potato Puff. The sweet potatoes are peeled, cut, blanched, shaped through an extrusion process, par fried and individually quick frozen for preservation. The stated ingredients are sweet potatoes, sugar, cornstarch, canola oil, modified food starch, rice flour, salt, dextrin, natural flavoring, coloring, dextrose, xanthan gum and leavening. The applicable subheading for the Sweet Potato Puff will be 2008.99.9090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for fruit…otherwise prepared or preserved, whether or not containing added sugar or other sweetening matter…not elsewhere specified or included…other…other…other. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
