DeJager Performance Fabrics Inc. 2000 Oak Industrial Drive NE Grand Rapids, MI 49505 RE: The tariff classification of a glove from Vietnam. Dear Ms. DeJager: In your letter dated January 10, 2012, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample submitted will be returned. You have submitted a sample of a glove, Style 4023, which you state is a general purpose mechanics style glove. Style 4023 is a full-fingered glove with a synthetic leather palmside and back of hand fingertips made of 60% nylon 40% polyurethane woven fabric. The palmside of the gloves features a layer of Superfabric® HA607FC, which is comprised of 53% cotton 47% plastic woven fabric with a resin dot coating. The backside of the glove is made up of 96% nylon 4% knit stretch fabric. Affixed to the backside of the glove is a Superfabric® HA011 knuckle patch, which is made of 52% plastic 48% polyester woven fabric. This knuckle patch is wrapped with a strip of the same synthetic leather used on the palmside and has foam padding sewn underneath for support. Other features include a screen printing that partially covers the palm, fingers and tip of the thumb for enhanced gripping ability, fourchettes and a 1inch elastic cuff with a pull tab. The HexArmor® name appears on the front of the index finger. The applicable subheading for Style 4023 will be 6216.00.5820, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Gloves, mittens and mitts: other: of man-made fibers: other: with fourchettes . . . other. The rate of duty will be 20.7 cents per kilogram plus 10.4 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
