Dear Mr. Tartaro: In your letter dated July 28, 2011, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject merchandise tiletamine hydrochloride is described as solid, white and nearly odorless. It is an anesthetic and anticonvulsant and is component of telazol which is a veterinary anesthetic. The applicable subheading for the Tiletamine Hydrochloride will be 2934.99.4700, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Nucleic acids and their salts, whether or not chemically defined; other heterocyclic compounds: Other: Other: Aromatic or modified aromatic: Other: Drugs.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTS, the rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
