Resetar Porsche Cars North America, Inc. 980 Hammond Drive, Suite 1000 Atlanta, GA 30328 RE: The tariff classification of hinge covers from Germany Dear Mr. Resetar: In your letter dated March 12, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Descriptive literature was included with your request. The hinge cover is made of molded plastics. Its function is aesthetic. It is intended to cover the hinge mechanism of an automobile’s engine hood to provide a more finished look. The applicable subheading for the hinge cover will be 3926.30.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other articles of plastics…fittings for furniture, coachwork or the like: other. The rate of duty will be 5.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
