Lopez 8290 Lake Drive, #538 Doral, FL 33166 RE: The tariff classification of handbags from Mexico Dear Mr. Lopez: In your letter dated December 1, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your samples are being returned. The two items you have referred to as sample “A” and sample “B” are handbags constructed of a man-made textile mesh fabric. They are designed and sized to provide protection, portability, organization, and storage to the small personal effects normally carried on a daily basis. Both have top openings and two carrying handles. Sample “A” measures approximately 12” (W) x 9” 4” (D). Sample “B” measures approximately 10” (W) x 10” (H) x 2” (D). The applicable subheading for the handbags will be 4202.22.8050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for handbags, with outer surface of man-made textile material. The rate of duty will be 17.6% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
