N065581 July 14, 2009 CLA-2-61:RR:NC:TA:354 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 6116.10.6500 Ms. Jung Patton Showa Best Glove, Inc. 635 Andover Park West Suite 111 Seattle WA 98188 RE: The tariff classification of gloves from Malaysia Dear Ms. Patton: In your letter dated June 11, 2009, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted samples will be returned. Style 667 is a gauntlet style glove which has been completely dipped in PVC. You have indicated that the weight of the coating is greater than 50% of the weight of the glove. The glove measures approximately 12 inches and has an unfinished cut bottom. The glove features pieces of PVC on the palmside, sides, and in between the fingers. You state that the fiber content of the gloves is 95% cotton and 5% other textile fibers. You also state that the gloves will primarily be used in the commercial fishing industry. Style 772 is a long sleeve work glove with a rubber (nitrile) dip coating. You have indicated that the weight of the coating is greater that 50% of the weight of the glove. The glove extends above the elbow and features a hemmed elasticized top and grommet to hold the sleeve in place. The glove measures approximately 26 inches. The glove also features a rough textured finish from the wrist up, a side seam, a middle seam, and the words “ATLAS NITRILE772” on the backside. You state that the fiber content of the gloves is 60% polyester and 40% cotton knitted fabric. You also state that the glove will be used for maintenance, cleaning and chemical handling. The applicable subheading for Styles 667 and 772 will be 6116.10.6500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted: impregnated, coated or covered with plastics or rubber: other: without fourchettes: other. The duty rate will be 7% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
