Resetar Porsche Cars North America, Inc. 980 Hammond Drive Suite 1000 Atlanta, Georgia 30328 RE: The tariff classification of an aluminum foil label from Germany Dear Mr. Resetar: In your letter dated October 17, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample which you submitted is being retained by this office. The merchandise under consideration is a printed label made of aluminum foil with an adhesive backing. It is printed in both English and German and will be applied to the engine compartment of an automobile. It informs the owner that the air conditioner has been retrofitted to a certain standard and cautions that only qualified personnel should service the system. The applicable subheading for the aluminum foil label will be 8310.00.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sign plates, name plates, address plates and similar plates, numbers, letters and other symbols, and parts thereof, of base metal, excluding those of heading 9405. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
