Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of pin converters from China Dear Ms. Ramsey: In your letter dated July 3, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Samples of the items were submitted for our review. The merchandise is a set of six “Pin to Pendant Converters” (item number 36365). Each set contains three gold-toned and three silver-toned converters made of copper. The converters temporarily modify a jewelry pin from a pin worn on clothing to a pendant worn on a chain around the neck. The applicable subheading for the pin converters will be 7419.99.5050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other articles of copper, other, other, other, other. The rate of duty will be free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
