Ruling Text

N032678 July 15, 2008 CLA-2-48:OT:RR:NC:2:234 CATEGORY: Classification TARIFF NO.: 4823.90.6700 Ms. Jane Jewett Talus Corp. 470 Riverside Street Portland, Maine 04103 RE: The tariff classification of Lint Rollers from China Dear Ms. Jewett: In your letter dated June 27, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You submitted a sample of Lint Rollers, Model ST-CC4011, for our examination. The Lint Roller, including the handle, measures approximately 6½” in length. You state in your letter that the components are made up of an ABS handle, adhesive sheets and a protective roll wrapper. It is a travel-size roller mechanism that has thirty adhesive sheets. In operation, an outer release paper covering is temporarily removed from the roller to expose the adhesive sheet which is rolled over items to remove lint, etc. The roller is renewed by peeling off a spent layer, revealing the next adhesive layer. The Lint Rollers are put up for retail sale in a hard plastic clamshell package that contains two roller tubes. The applicable subheading for the Lint Rollers will be 4823.90.6700, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Other (than certain specified articles of paper): Of coated paper or paperboard: Other (than Gaskets, washers and other seals). The rate of duty will be Free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
