(U.S.A.), Inc. 575 Andover Park West Suite 105 Seattle, WA 98188 RE: The tariff classification of string knit gloves from Malaysia. Dear Ms. Patton: In your letter dated August 23, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You have submitted three styles of work gloves used for tasks where cut resistance and dexterity are desired. Your refer to style #545 as a High Performance Polyethylene Fiber (HPPE) string knit glove with a nitrile dip coating on the palm side which also overlaps a portion of the backside fingers and sides of the glove. You have indicated that the weight breakdown of the glove is 53% HPPE fiber and 47% nitrile coating. You state that style #555 is a combination of HPPE and glass fiber string-knit glove with a polyurethane (PU) dip coating on the palm side which also overlaps the backside fingers and knuckle area. You indicate that the weight breakdown of the glove is 90% textile and 10% PU coating. Style #570 is made up of a combination of polyethylene, glass fiber, stainless fiber and polyester string knit glove with a nitrile dip coating on the palm side which also overlaps a portion of the backside fingers and sides of the glove. You indicate that the weight breakdown of the glove is 70% textile and 30% nitrile coating. All three styles feature an overlock stitch finish at the bottom edges of the cuffs. The applicable subheading for all three styles will be 6116.10.5520, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted: impregnated, coated or covered with plastics or rubber: other: without fourchettes: other: containing 50 percent or more by weight of cotton, man-made fibers or other textile fibers, or any combination thereof…subject to man-made fiber restraints. The rate of duty will be 13.2% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
