Dear Ms. Hu: In your letter dated June 14, 2007, you requested a classification ruling. The samples will be returned to you. Styles 9876, 9849 and 9848 are hats made of knit 100% wool fabric. Styles 9894 and 9895 are made of knit 65% wool/35% acrylic fabric. Styles 9876 and 9849 are ski-style hats that fit snug to the head. Style 9848 is a cuff style cable knit hat. Styles 9894 and 9895 are Peruvian style hats lined with fleece fabric and have earflaps with braid and tassels. The applicable subheading for Styles 9876, 9849, 9848, 9894, 9895 will be 6505.90.3090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Hats and other headgear…Of wool: Knitted or crocheted or made up from knitted or crocheted fabric, Other: Other." The rate of duty will be 25.4 cents per kilogram plus 7.7% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 459. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
