Box 58710 Seattle, WA 98138 RE: The tariff classification of a women’s coat from China Dear Ms. Mendoza: In your letter dated April 30, 2007, you requested a classification ruling. You submitted a sample which will be returned as you requested. The item in question, style F53V4, is a women’s outerwear coat with a shell made from a 59% wool/30% polyester/10% silk/1% spandex dobby stripe twill fabric. The garment has a double-breasted, four-button front closure, a notched collar with lapels, slant pockets in the chest over besom pockets in the waist area, a double-vented back, a belt segment with buttons on the back, a one-button closure on the cuffs, a banded bottom and a 100% rayon lining. The garment has a center back length of twenty-nine inches in size medium. The applicable subheading for style F53V4 will be 6202.11.0010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for women’s overcoats, carcoats, capes, cloaks and similar coats, of wool or fine animal hair. The duty rate will be 41 cents per kg plus 16.3 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. With the exception of certain products of China, quota/visa requirements are no longer applicable for merchandise which is the product of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries.
