Figuerora, Unit B Carson, CA 90745 RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s sweater from China. Dear Ms. Giarraputo: In your letter dated April 30, 2007, on behalf of DZ Trading, 110 E. 9th St., Suite C701, Los Angeles, CA 90079, you requested a classification ruling. Your sample is being returned. The submitted sample, style SCWWP271, is a woman’s sweater that is constructed from 30% modal, 25% cotton, 20% nylon, 25% wool, cable knit fabric. The outer surface of the fabric measures 9 or fewer stitches per 2 centimeters in the direction that the stitches were formed. The garment features a notched modified shawl collar, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs, a full front opening with 4 button closures, 2 front patch pockets in the waist area, and a ribbed bottom. The applicable subheading for the sweater will be 6110.30.1520, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for sweaters, knitted: of man made fibers: other: containing 23 percent or more by weight of wool or fine animal hair: sweaters: women’s. The duty rate will be 17% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. With the exception of certain products of China, quota/visa requirements are no longer applicable for merchandise which is the product of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries.
