Box 1199 Williston, VT 05495 RE: The tariff classification of hat from China. Dear Ms. Ramsey: In your letter dated March 22, 2007, you requested a classification ruling. The sample will be returned to you as requested. The submitted sample, style 54980, Waterproof Cap w/Fur Ear Flaps is made of woven nylon fabric coated with PVC material. The cap has a peak, an adjustable chin strap and the ear flaps can be worn up or down. The ear flaps are lined with fleece material. The applicable subheading for the style 54980 will be 6505.90.8090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Hats and other headgear, knitted or crocheted, or made up from lace, felt or other textile fabric…Other: Of man-made fibers: Other: Not in part of braid, Other: Other: Other." The rate of duty will be 18.7 cents /kg + 6.8% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 659. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
