Box 260 Chillicothe, MO 64601 RE: The tariff classification of a hood from China. Dear Ms. McCabe: In your letter dated July 25, 2006, you requested a classification ruling. The sample will be returned to you as requested. The submitted sample, style 39 is a camouflage printed hood, made of knit mesh 100% polyester fabric that you identify as a mask. The hood extends to the shoulders, covers the head and mouth and has a braided cord that extends from each ear. The applicable subheading for the hood, style 39 will be 6505.90.5090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Hats and other headgear, knitted or crocheted, or made up from lace, felt or other textile fabric…Other: Of man-made fibers: Knitted or crocheted or made up from knitted or crocheted fabric: Wholly or in part of braid, Other: Other." The duty rate will be 6.8% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 659. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change.
