Seventy-Five Broad Street New York, N.Y. 10004 RE: The tariff classification of a men’s knit cardigan from Hong Kong. Dear Ms. Shira: In your letter dated June 3, 2005, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of Polo Ralph Lauren. As requested, your sample will be returned. Style S57JX09 is a men’s cardigan constructed from 100 percent wool, double knit fabric that that measures 13 stitches per two centimeters counted in the horizontal direction. The cardigan features a full front opening with a rib knit, zip-through turtleneck collar; two snap fasteners on the collar; a zippered pocket on the left chest; long, self-finished sleeves; 100 percent nylon, woven fabric overlays on the upper half of the front and rear panels; two zippered pockets below the waist; and a tubular knit bottom. The applicable subheading for Style S57JX09 will be 6110.11.0070, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, (HTS), which provides for: sweaters, pullovers, sweatshirts, waistcoats (vests) and similar articles, knitted or crocheted: of wool or fine animal hair: of wool: other: men's or boys’. The rate of duty is 16 percent ad valorem. Style S57JX09 falls within textile category designation 438.
