Ashear Paris Asia, Ltd. 350 Fifth Avenue, 70th Floor New York, New York 10118 RE: The tariff classification of gloves from China. Dear Mr. Ashear: In your letter dated June 6, 2005, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted samples will be returned as per your request. Style 65002 is a fleece lined and insulated half-fingered glove with the exception of the thumb. The glove is constructed of a string-knit 85% wool 15% nylon fabric. The glove features a sewn-on mitten style cover that can be placed over the fingers or secured with sewn-in magnets when not in use and a leather overlay covering a portion of palm which extends to the thumb. The fleece lining extends to trim the rib knit cuff bottom and mitten cover. Style 65003 is a fleece lined and insulated 85% wool 15% nylon string-knit glove with a ribbed knit cuff. The glove features leather overlays covering a portion of the palm extending to the forefinger and also on the palmside thumb. The fleece lining extends to trim the glove bottom. The applicable subheading for all styles will be 6116.91.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted: other: of wool or fine animal hair. The duty rate will be 31.2 cents per kilogram plus 7 percent ad valorem. All styles fall within textile category designation 431.
