The tariff classification of a woman’s jacket from Thailand

Malina Lands’ End, Inc. 5 Lands’ End Lane Dodgeville, WI 53595 RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s jacket from Thailand Dear Ms. Malina: In your letter dated April 7, 2005, you requested a classification ruling. The submitted sample will be returned to you as requested. Style 36952 is a woman’s jacket constructed from 99 percent cotton and 1 percent spandex woven fabric. The jacket is composed of more than four panels and features long sleeves, a mandarin collar, two pockets with flaps below the waist and a full front opening secured by four buttons. This garment will also be imported in women’s sizes under style number 36973. The applicable subheading for the jacket will be 6204.32.2030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for women’s or girls’ suits, ensembles, suit-type jackets, blazers, dresses, skirts, divided skirts, trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear): suit-type jackets and blazers: of cotton: other: other: women’s. The duty rate will be 9.4 percent ad valorem. The jacket falls within textile category designation 335.
