Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of footwear and a pillow from china Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated June 10, 2004 you requested a tariff classification ruling for an item referred to as “Slippers n’ Hearts.” The item is a pair of slippers packaged together with a small heart-shaped novelty pillow. The slippers have “World’s Greatest Lover” embroidered across the top and have outer soles and uppers of textile material. The pillow has a small plastic heart shaped plastic button with “Be My Valentine” printed on it. You state that the item is being considered for a 2005’ Valentine promotion. The applicable subheading for the slippers will be 6405.20.90, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS),.which provides for other footwear with uppers of textile materials, other. The general rate of duty will be 12.5 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the novelty pillow will be 6307.90.9889 HTS, which provides for other made up textile articles, other. The general rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
