Dear Ms. Ursery: In your letter dated May 27, 2003 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample, designated as style RR732-01, is a knit trimming fabric said to be composed of 95% nylon and 5% metalized yarn. It incorporates a narrow woven ribbon which has been inserted down the center of the knit trimming during the knitting process. The knit fabric measures approximately 1.25 centimeters in width The applicable subheading for the knit trimming fabric designated as style RR732-01 will be 6003.30.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for knitted or crocheted fabrics of a width not exceeding 30 centimeters, other than those of heading 6001 or 6002, of synthetic fibers, other. The rate of duty will be 7.7 percent ad valorem. At the present time goods classifiable in subheading 6003.30.6000, HTS, are not subject to either quota restraints or visa requirements when produced in Taiwan. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
