Dear Ms. Santos: In your letter dated July 11, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You are requesting the tariff classification on an item that has been described as a “Three in One Game Table”, CVS item number 157891. The product is constructed of wood material that has reversible game tabletops. You can play checkers or chess on one side of the tabletop, or by flipping the tabletop over you can play backgammon. All the necessary game pieces are included in the storage compartment. The table has a natural cherry finish. The proper classification will be in Chapter 95 of the HTSUSA as other games and accessories. Your sample will be returned, as requested. The applicable subheading for the “Three in One Game Table”, item number 157891, will be 9504.90.9080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for “Articles for arcade, table or parlor games, including pinball machines, bagatelle, billiards and special tables for casino games; automatic bowling alley equipment; parts and accessories thereof: Other...Other.” The rate of duty will be free. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
