Box 3728 Philadelphia, PA 19125 RE: The tariff classification of fasteners and chain from Taiwan Dear Mr. Green: In your letter dated October 22, 2001, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You have described your samples as follows: Jack chain – made of steel and having links of 0.1055” diameter, for hanging lights from ceilings Wedge anchor ½ x 3-3/4 – for anchoring machinery, equipment, etc. Hex sleeve anchor 3/8 x 1-7/8 – for anchoring door and window frames, electrical junction boxes, etc. Rod hanger sleeve anchor 3/8 x 1-7/8 – for anchoring threaded rod The applicable subheading for the jack chain will be 7315.89.10, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for chain and parts thereof, of iron or steel, other chain, other, with links of essentially round cross sections, not over 8 mm in diameter. The rate of duty will be 1.5% ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the anchors will be 7318.15.20, HTS, which provides for other screws and bolts, whether or not with their nuts or washers: bolts and bolts and their nuts or washers entered or exported in the same shipment: having shanks or threads with a diameter of 6 mm or more. The duty rate will be free. There are no quota or visa restrictions for these products at this time. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
