Dear Mr. Lottich: In your letter dated February 5, 2001, you requested a ruling on tariff classification. The merchandise to be imported consists of wooden furniture and wooden upholstered chairs. Some of the cabinets will have glass shelves and beveled glass door inserts. The applicable subheading for wooden furniture will be 9403.60.8080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other furniture and parts thereof: other wooden furniture: other, other. The rate of duty will be free. The applicable subheading for wooden upholstered chairs will be 9401.61.4010, HTS, which provides for seats…whether or not convertible into beds, and parts thereof: other seats, with wooden frames: upholstered: chairs: other, household. The rate of duty will be free. There are no restrictions on the importation of wooden furniture from Indonesia. Regarding your inquiry as to the classification of the incomplete table lamps and chandeliers, please submit the following information: Identify the items to be imported. Samples, photographs or other pictorial representations. Breakdown of component material by weight and value of each item. Limit your request to 5 items per inquiry. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
