Box 839, Hato Rey Station San Juan, PR 00919-0839 RE: The tariff classification of coffee makers from China Dear Mr. Rodriguez: In your letter dated December 5, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise is two styles of stove-top coffee makers in various sizes. Item numbers KP-100, KP-300, KP-600, KP-900, and KP-1200 are espresso-style coffee makers made of aluminum in 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12-cup capacities. Item numbers KPS-200, KPS-400, and KPS-600 are 2, 4, and 6-cup stainless steel coffee makers. The applicable subheading for the aluminum coffee makers will be 7615.19.7030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for table, kitchen or other household articles and parts thereof, of aluminum, other, cooking and kitchenware, not enameled or glazed and not containing nonstick interior finishes, other, cooking ware. The rate of duty will be 3.1 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the stainless steel coffee makers will be 7323.93.0030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for table, kitchen or other household articles and parts thereof, of iron or steel, other, of stainless steel, cooking and kitchenware, other, cooking ware. The rate of duty will be 2 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
