Box 1579 Paramus, NJ 07653-1579 RE: The tariff classification of 2-Nitromethylene Thiazolidine (CAS 66357-40-2) from Spain and 1-(2-Amino-S-Chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-Trifluoroethanone (CAS 154598-53-5) from France. Dear Ms. von Doehren: In your letter dated August 13, 1997, you requested a tariff classification ruling for the above products. The applicable subheading for 2-Nitromethylene Thiazolidine, which is used as a chemical intermediate, will be 2934.10.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other heterocyclic compounds: compounds containing an unfused thiazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure: other. The rate of duty will be 7.1 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for 1-(2-Amino-S-Chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-Trifluoroethanone, which is used as a chemical intermediate, will be 2922.30.2500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for oxygen-function amino-compounds: amino-aldehydes, amino-ketones, and amino-quinones, other than those containing more than one kind of oxygen function; salts thereof: aromatic: other. The rate of duty will be 11.4 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
