Central Road Hoffman Estates, IL 60195-1930 RE: The tariff classification of a rose-shaped container and silver plated metal ring from China. Dear Ms. Balice: In your letter dated October 29, 1996, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The rose-shaped container is designed to hold a ring. The container is composed largely of a flocked polystyrene plastics material with a textile covered wire and paper stem. The ring is composed of a silver plated metal with a crystal stone. The container will be imported with and without the ring. When imported with the ring, the container will be classified with the ring. The applicable subheading for the silver plated metal ring and its rose-shaped container will be 7117.19.9000, HTS, which provides for imitation jewelry: of base metal, whether or not plated with precious meatal: other: other: other. The rate of duty will be 11 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the rose-shaped container, when imported alone, will be 3923.90.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles for the conveyance or packing of goods, other. The rate of duty will be 3 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
