North Building, Suite 750 Washington, DC 20004-2612 RE: The tariff classification of current and voltage transducers from Switzerland Dear Mr. Roybal: In your letter dated July 24, 1996, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of LEM U.S.A, Inc. The merchandise is a variety of current and voltage transducers which, according to the literature furnished by LEM, are used "for the measurement of electrical parameters including current and voltage..." Your letter states that they will be used in the operation of a variety of control circuits in electric power applications. The applicable subheading for the transducers will be 9030.39.0040, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other instruments and apparatus for measuring or checking electrical quantities, for measuring or checking voltage, current, resistance or power, without a recording device, other. The rate of duty will be 3.6 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
