Deringer, Inc. 727 Honeyspot Road #202 Stratford, CT 06497 Re: The tariff classification of a card case from Taiwan. Dear Mr. Cappellio: In your letter dated May 2, 1994, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Professional Marketing Services of East Westport, CT. The sample submitted is a business card case. The case is approximately 4" x 2 1/2" and has the shape of a briefcase. The body of the case is metal with a textile interior. You indicate the material on the outer surface is leather. The applicable subheading for the card case will be 4202.31.6000, Harmonnized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for articles of a kind normally carried in the pocket or in the handbag, with outer surface of leather, other. The rate of duty will be 8 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R.177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
