Los Pinos 114 Of. 905 Miraflores, Lima Peru RE: The tariff classification of various products from Peru Dear Mr. Ferandini Frias: In your letter dated October 31, 1991, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The applicable HTS numbers and rates of duty are as follows: Product HTS Rate Cochineal, insect 0511.99.4050 2.5 percent ad valorem Tumeric, root 0910.30.0000 Duty free Annatto seed 1404.10.0020 Duty free Tara, pod and powder 1404.10.0020 Duty free Aloe Vera plant: with soil attached 0602.99.3090 2.2 percent ad valorem Prohibited except from Canada without soil 0602.99.4000 5.5 percent ad valorem Articles classifiable under subheading 0511.99.4050 and 0602.99.4000, HTS, which are the products of Peru are entitled to duty free treatment under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) upon compliance with all applicable regulations. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
