Malina Lands’ End, Inc. 5 Lands’ End Lane Dodgeville, WI 53595 RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s cardigan from Hong Kong or China Dear Ms. Malina: In your letter dated May 31, 2005, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your sample is being returned as requested. The submitted sample, style number 39103 is a woman’s cardigan that is constructed from 100% cotton double knit fabric. The outer surface of the garment measures more than 9 stitches per 2 centimeters in the horizontal direction. The cardigan features a turn down collar, a full front opening with 6 button closures, 2 front patch pockets at the waist, and a tubular hemmed bottom. The applicable subheading for the cardigan will be 6110.20.2075, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for sweaters…and similar articles, knitted: of cotton: other…other: women’s. The rate of duty will be 16.5% ad valorem. The cardigan falls within textile category designation 339.
